Sefton Children’s Trust
Providing support and positive experiences to young people and families in Sefton
Who are we?
Sefton Children’s Trust was started in 1984 by a group of foster mothers who wanted their foster children to have the same experiences as their peers. Over the past 40 years, Sefton Children’s Trust has grown to what we see today. We take Sefton children on a week-long educational and physical residential experience to let them learn about teamwork, healthy eating, environmental sustainability and, most importantly, fun.
We outline a three-year program for Sefton families which gives access to experiences that they deserve
In Sefton, one in six children live in relative poverty and out of the 189 neighbourhoods in Sefton, 31 are in the top 10% most deprived areas in the United Kingdom, with 5 neighbourhoods being in the top 1%. To even the playing field in the current economy, our goal is to support as many families as possible in making memorable experiences for their children to make lasting memories over the summer holidays.
We have worked with Manor Adventure Culmington Manor for the last (figure) years to create a safe space for Sefton Children to make lifelong friendships and memories.
Our Summer Residential
For the past 40 years, Sefton Children’s Trust has taken Sefton Children on a week-long residential.
Each child is placed in a group of 8 children of similar ages, have three healthy meals a day, provided with their own clothes and toiletry bag, and take part in exciting activities such as high ropes, team sports, canoeing and kayaking.
Further Support
Sefton Children’s Trust aims to help families at times when people are most likely to struggle. Every Christmas, Sefton Children’s Trust deliver food and toy hampers and organise a Family Fun Day for the children and their loved ones in the Plaza Cinema, Waterloo, where we celebrate the Summer Residential and watch a recent family movie, followed by a restaurant meal where families will win a Christmas present in a free raffle.
We also provide support over the Easter period to support families with eggs and other treats.
